Here's what a week of Geo-Grammar will look like in your classroom:
DAY 1: SKILL INTRODUCTION
On Day 1, start by introducing the geographical location you'll explore that week while learning the grammar skill. Share three fun facts about the place using ready-made digital anchor slides. Next, as a whole group, introduce the grammar skill, watch a brief student-friendly video, and go through a few practice slides together.
DAY 2: REVIEW GAME
On Day 2, begin by reviewing the grammar skill using the prepared anchor slides. Next, play a whole-class game of SCOOT. Alternatively, you can use the SCOOT cards as task cards at individual or small group centers.
DAY 3: LINKtivity® Exploration
On Day 3, students will put what they've been learning into practice using a digital LINKtivity®. Students can review the skill independently through the LINKtivity before completing several interactive practice slides. The LINKtivity is self-checking, providing immediate feedback for the students. They will also have the option to explore the geographical location through a guided Google Earth tour.
Our LINKtivities are designed with diverse learners in mind, featuring user-friendly navigation and audio support that reads text to students, making it perfect for struggling readers and English language learners.
DAY 4: PASSPORT PAGE
On Day 4, students will complete their passport page with further review of the grammar skill. As your and your students travel the world exploring grammar throughout the year, they will be building out their passport with a new page each week!
DAY 5: ASSESSMENT
On Day 5, students show their understanding of the grammar skill through a short assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
A: We have used the 3rd grade Language Common Core Standards to create these grammar skill mini-units. Although some 2nd and 4th-5th teachers have used this skill, we feel most confident that it will support 3rd grade learning standards. Please view the previews of each mini-unit and video to see if they will fit your needs. We hope to build out a 4th and 5th grade Geo-Grammar curriculum in the future.
-
A: No. Although all of the Geo-Grammar mini-units work together to create a complete grammar curriculum to use throughout the year, each mini-unit can be used as a stand-along resource. We do recommend using the entire series so that students can build up their Geo-Grammar passport throughout the year.
